An Evening at Kunzum: The Color of Us Comes to Delhi
Under the warm lights of Kunzum Books, Delhi gave these poems a room full of friends, family, and fellow book lovers.
If Mumbai gave The Color of Us its first evening, Delhi gave it its first real conversation. There’s a different rhythm to the capital’s reading life — slower, more unhurried, the kind that belongs to a good bookshop and a cup of chai that goes cold because you’re too busy talking.
We launched at Kunzum Books, and I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting room. The Color of Us is, at heart, an independent book — one I chose to send into the world feeling excited and nervous, to be sharing such intimate moments of life.
We read, we laughed, we celebrated what poetry means, and why I write poems. Someone asked me which poem was hardest to write, and I realised, answering them, that the hardest ones are always the ones closest to the truth.
That’s really what this collection is about — the colours we take on when we love, lose, and slowly find our way back to ourselves. Delhi, with its old bookshops and its deep patience for poetry, felt like exactly the right place to say that out loud.
Thank you to everyone who came to Kunzum, and to this city that holds its readers so close. You made The Color of Us feel less like my book and more like ours.
